CDA presents the group exhibition BANGKOK ASSEMBLY with six Bangkok-based artists—KARMS, MACKCHA, MAMABLUES, SONGSIN T., YAMADA, and 2CHOEY. This exhibition marks their first official introduction in Korea. It serves as an occasion to examine how Bangkok’s sensibility is read and extended within Seoul’s visual culture, through artists who have each built their own visual language within Bangkok’s local scene.
The worlds that appear in the exhibition sometimes borrow the outer skin of bright and playful characters, and at other times reveal the borders of body and emotion within dark, densely layered scenes. Painting, line drawing, character-based imagery, and graphic-novel-like narratives coexist in different ways, and viewers encounter moments in which “identity,” “emotion,” and “imagination” waver and overlap within a single scene. CDA hopes this exhibition goes beyond a simple introduction and becomes a meaningful starting point for ongoing collaboration connecting Bangkok and Seoul.
This exhibition is jointly curated by Trendy Gallery (Bangkok) and CDA. The two spaces aim to create points of contact where contemporary Asian artists can continue to exchange beyond the boundaries of cities and markets, and BANGKOK ASSEMBLY stands as the first attempt in that direction.

씨디에이는 방콕을 기반으로 활동하는 여섯 명의 작가 — KARMS, MACKCHA, MAMABLUES, SONGSIN T., YAMADA, 그리고 2CHOEY 와 함께 그룹전 BANGKOK ASSEMBLY 를 선보입니다. 이번 전시는 태국 로컬 신에서 각자의 시각 언어를 구축해 온 이들이 한국에서 공식적으로 소개되는 첫 자리로, 방콕의 감각이 서울의 시각 문화 속에서 어떤 방식으로 읽히고 확장되는지를 살펴보는 계기입니다.
전시에 등장하는 세계는 밝고 유쾌한 캐릭터의 외피를 빌리기도 하고, 어둡고 밀도 높은 화면 속에서 신체와 감정의 경계를 드러내기도 합니다. 회화, 선 드로잉, 캐릭터 기반 이미지, 그래픽 노블적 서사가 서로 다른 방식으로 공존하며, 관객은 ‘정체성’과 ‘감정’, ‘상상’이 한 장면 안에서 흔들리고 겹쳐지는 순간을 마주하게 됩니다. 씨디에이는 이번 전시가 단순한 소개를 넘어, 방콕과 서울을 잇는 지속적 협업으로의 의미 있는 계기가 되기를 희망합니다.
본 전시는 방콕의 트렌디 갤러리와 씨디에이가 공동으로 기획했습니다. 두 공간은 동시대 아시아 작가들이 도시와 시장의 경계를 넘어 보다 지속적으로 교류할 수 있는 접점을 만들고자 했으며, BANGKOK ASSEMBLY 는 그 첫 시도로 자리합니다.
